Shape Monster Glyph

A shape monster glyph is a great way to reinforce a unit on shapes. It also encourages students to follow directions, develop cutting skills, and practice counting.

The age and ability levels of your students will determine how much you'll want to prep before hand. The shapes were drawn for the students to cut out themselves. The hair, legs, feet, eyes, and mouths were also precut. The students cut out the shape and teeth. They also crinkle folded the legs and then glued all the pieces together.

I love how much personality the monsters have!

  1. Cute! Do you think Heath could do this? Or is he too little? We have not worked on any cutting skills yet... not sure when to start that.

    1. He's at a great age to start cutting! I recommend scissors like the ones here http://www.amazon.com/Fiskars-Pre-School-Scissors-Received-93907097/dp/B0002TMXAY/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1403051958&sr=8-7&keywords=kid+scissors for beginning cutters. They open back up automatically so all Heath has to do is squeeze the pieces together.
